活動當天，師生們一起走進富有歷史風情的平溪老街，品嚐在地小吃，欣賞山城風光，也聆聽老師們介紹放天燈的由來與文化意義。
外籍學生們不僅動手製作天燈，還用中文寫下自己的願望與祝福，從學習語言走進文化核心。這樣的體驗讓大家更加認識台灣傳統節慶與價值觀。
當天燈升空的那一刻，所有人的眼睛都閃閃發亮，看著天燈在夜空中緩緩升起，就像每個人心中的夢想一樣，慢慢發光、飛得更高。
這不只是一趟旅程，更是一段跨文化交流的過程。來自不同國家的同學們透過這樣的活動，加深對台灣的理解，也增進彼此的友誼。
我們相信，學語言不只是在教室裡，更是在每一次文化體驗中，發現彼此的不同與美好。

【Chinese Language Center x Department of Department of Language, Culture and Literature, Fo Guang University｜Cultural Exchange Trip: Sky Lanterns in Pingxi】
To help our international students better understand Taiwanese culture, we teamed up with the Department of Foreign Languages for a special cultural activity — a trip to Pingxi to experience the tradition of sky lanterns!
We explored the charming old streets of Pingxi, tasted local snacks, and learned about the history and meaning behind the sky lantern tradition from our teachers.
Students had the chance to make their own sky lanterns and write down their wishes and blessings — many of them in Chinese! This hands-on activity allowed them to connect with the deeper values of Taiwanese culture beyond the classroom.
As the lanterns slowly rose into the night sky, everyone watched with excitement and joy. It was a magical moment, filled with hopes and dreams taking flight.
This trip wasn’t just about sightseeing — it was a meaningful cultural exchange. Students from different countries bonded through shared experiences, and developed a deeper appreciation for Taiwanese traditions.
We believe that language learning goes hand in hand with cultural immersion — and this activity was a perfect example of that.
